It’s September. Which means its time for Fall and Pumpkin Spice EVERYTHING. Seriously, everything. I was at Trader Joe’s the other day and they even had Pumpkin Spice Caramel Popcorn.
I digress, after a long make-up season of dewy bronzed skin and no make-up make-up looks, there is something I love about the dark, vampy, and shimmery looks of Fall.
One of the easiest ways to ‘vamp up’ your make-up as we head into Fall (and usually a more budget friendly option) is to incorporate a new lipstick. I put together some of my favorites in my collection. Some are old favorites and some are new, but I love them all. Hopefully you find something you like and it inspires you into trying something new!
Lets start with lipsticks. They tend to be a bit creamier and a bit more manageable if your new to make-up or this is your first foray into dark lipstick.
The Milani lipstick is a great year round nude. For my skin tone this nude is a bit deeper so its great to carry into the Fall. If you have a deeper skin tone you could try the shades Bahama Beige or Dulce Caramelo. The Maybelline Creamy Matte line is amazing, in my opinion. They go on very creamy, are very pigmented and they last a long time for not claiming to be a long lasting lipstick. The Maybelline Color Jolt is a newer release and new to my collection. This color is great, even after the initial shine wears down it leaves a great stain behind. I have a feeling a few more shades from the Color Jolt line will end up in my collection. Lastly is the Kat Von D shade. Wolvesmouth is slightly metallic and is long lasting. Pair this with a dramatic cat eye winged liner and you will be tres chic.
Now lets talk liquid lipsticks.
Seriously. If you have not discovered Colourpop yet you are missing out. Their liquid lipsticks are GREAT. They have the Ultra Matte line and also the Ultra Satin line. Also did I mention that everything on their website is under $10?! To me the Ultra Mattes are a little drying, but I honestly find that in most liquid lipsticks. I try to combat that by putting a very small amount of chapstick on before I apply the liquid lipstick. The Kat Von D everlasting liquid lipstick is great as well. It was the first liquid lipstick I ever bought and one of my first darker lipsticks. But honestly I think Colourpop is just as good and is much more budget friendly.
All in all, these shades will be making many appearances in the upcoming months. Now if your going for a more bold look pair a deep lip with a smokey eye. If you want to make a deep lip a bit more everyday and wearable pair it with winged liner or a shimmery neutral eye look.
How will you be wearing your make up this fall?
