Winter is in full swing, even here in California. While it may not snow or get below 0 degrees here in Sacramento, it does get colder and my skin definitely notices. So here are my current favorites for winter skincare.
Disclaimer: I have oily/combination skin and I do get bouts of hormonal acne.
This face wash and toner duo that I’ve been using for about 8 months now is from the The Body Shop Tea Tree line. It’s really helped clear up my skin, help with my hormonal acne, and it does not dry out my skin – even in the winter time.
At night time I will use the Olay Active Botanicals Hydrating Toner, this is really nice if my skin needs a little extra moisture.
The Loreal Micellar Cleansing Water is a new find. I’ve used the Garnier Micellar Water before for months, and I love it, but I’m always willing to try something new. And this is a winner. I like this one just as much as the Garnier version. It takes all my makeup off, including stubborn eye makeup.
I recently discovered the new Elf skincare collection. I picked up this Hydrating Gel Melt Cleanser. Just scoop a little out and rub between your fingers to warm up, massage onto your face, and it starts to melt away your makeup. This does a decent job, but if you are wearing a lot of mascara or eyeliner this does not get all of it off. My favorite way to remove make up is plain baby oil. It dissolves EVERYTHING.
Moisture is so important during the winter months. I’ve been loving these two lately from the Aveeno Positively Radiant line, the daily moisturizer and the intensive night cream. The day cream is not too heavy even for my oily skin. The night cream is thick and creamy and absorbs quickly.
If my skin needs an extra boost I will reach for a mask. I have a slight obsession with Tony Moly sheet masks. The Elf Hydrating Bubble Mask is a fun mask, it really does bubble on the skin! But also does a good job of giving added hydration.
Your body is just as important during dry winter months. I get extremely dry skin during winter. I recently discovered these creamy body wash’s from Bath and Body Works. These are great! This body lotion from Lush, Charity Pot, is amazing. Its thick and creamy and sinks into the skin and really provides great hydration.
