Turn up the volume| Hair

For some of us the quest for voluminous hair can be never ending. How many of you have tried sprays, mousse, teasing, rollers, etc? Sometimes they work sometimes they don’t. Sometimes my hair might look great but feels terrible. Recently I tried a couple new products that I think are pretty awesome!

The dream team.

I discovered this little duo while I cruising down the aisles of my local CVS. I was especially intrigued by the root lifting mousse.

I do my usual routine with shampoo, conditioner, and leave-in treatment. Then I spray the thickening lotion on the bottom 2/3’s of my hair. I run my fingers through my hair to help it distribute too. You can use as much or as little as you want. This does not make my hair sticky or crunchy.

Next I section off my hair and spray the root lifting mousse directly where I want it. It has a nozzle like your typical hairspray. It is a very targeted spray. It really does get to the root of the hair. I usually use this around the crown. Don’t go overboard with this.

Then I blow dry my hair like normal. First I rough dry my hair by drying my hair upside-down and using my fingers to get most of the moisture out of my hair. Then when my hair is 80% dry I use a large round brush to create lift and to smooth out my hair. When I’m done, I use a flat iron to smooth out the ends, and I think it just makes my hair look more polished.

I will say that when you start drying your hair the mousse feels very sticky, but once your hair is completely dry, that stickiness goes away and you are left with tons of volume at the root.

So far I am loving these two products together. They give my fine hair lots of volume that carries over to my 2nd and 3rd day hair. The thickening lotion really does make my hair feel thicker and fuller. The best part? They are drugstore so these products are so affordable!
