As you may have guessed from my last blog post, a lot of the eyeshadow palettes that have come out recently haven’t really appealed to me. I either wasn’t impressed with the quality, the shades, or just wasn’t my style. But there was a palette that did get released that I was instantly drawn to. The new Eye-Conic palettes from Marc Jacobs Beauty.
Marc Jacobs had eye shadow palettes when the brand first came out. But this release is a totally new formulation. These palettes are fashion inspired with four fashion finishes: velvet, satin, silk, and lamé. There are a total of 6 new palettes: Provocouture (plums and pinks), Glambition (browns and bronze), Frivoluxe (purples and violet), Scandalust (browns and orange), Edgitorial (greens and gold), and Sartorial (blues and silver).
I’ve tried a few things from the Marc Jacobs line but mostly for the face, I’ve never tried any eye products. I went into Sephora with the intent of looking at the Frivoluxe palette but they were sold out. The gold shade in the Edgitorial palette caught my eye. I have gold eyeshadows in other palettes, but NOTHING like this. I was instantly drawn in.
These shadows are so soft and buttery, so easy to work with, and the palette is so cohesive. These greens are so pigmented and rich and true to color. This would be a great palette to travel with, you pretty much have all the shadows you need in a perfect slim and streamlined case (with a mirror!) This look is one of the first I created with this palette, a classic halo smokey eye.
I used Enviously in the crease, blended out with Take A Memo. On the inner and outer corners I used Everywhere. For the center of the lid I used Pleather Python (I die for this shade). One the lower lash line I mimicked the same technique. Everywhere on the inner and outer lash line and Pleather Python in the center. I used Take A Memo to blend out all the edges. For inner corner and brow bone highlight I used Next Season.
When I had completed the above look, I decided to have just a little bit of fun and add some glitter. Because you can never have enough glitter in your life.
I’ve still got my eye on the Frivoluxe palette but it seems to be pretty popular since its currently sold out. But I’m really enjoying the Edgitorial palette. Have any of you tried the new Marc Jacobs palettes? Which one do you have your eye on?
