Right before Christmas, Sephora had a MASSIVE sale on their site and in store, and if you’re an avid Sephora shopper then you know they don’t have sales that often. For a brief second the Urban Decay Moondust palette was on sale and I swooped on it. It had been a palette I had been eyeing for a while but kept talking myself out of buying. I was inspired to create a fun dark and glittery eye look for New Years Eve.
Which speaking of sales, Sephora is currently offering an extra 20% off their sale items if you use the code SALEONSALE, ends 1/1. This palette isn’t new and there are lots of videos and blog posts reviewing this palette so I won’t bore you with that.
When I got this palette in the mail I couldn’t wait to get it out and swatch it. While this palette isn’t groundbreaking it isn’t like anything I currently have in my collection. These colors aren’t too crazy that they are unwearable, well at least for me.
I was thinking of what kind of makeup look to post for a NYE look and I was inspired by this palette because what goes better together than NYE and glitter?
Now I will admit, I used a bunch of matte shades from many different palettes. I buffed the shade Combust from the UD Naked Smoky palette as my first transition shade (this palette is being discontinued so grab it while you can). Then I used the darker mauve shade from the Carli Bybel deluxe palette to add some purplish depth to the crease.
I took a flat shader brush and pat the shade Galaxy from the Moondust palette all over the lid. I took a pencil brush and smudged Black Market from the Smoky palette on the outer corner.
I lined my waterline with any black liner and used a definer brush to smudge Vega from the Moondust palette on my lashline. Then I took the same mauve shade from the Carli Bybel palette and Combust from Naked Smokey to blend out Vega.
Added my favorite mascara, Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir. For my inner corner highlight I used Saphyre from the Kat Von D Alchemist palette.
For the final look I paired this eye look with a simple gloss from Lorac in the shade Minimalist. I think these statement earrings from Francesca’s and this velvet top from Old Navy really complete the look and don’t compete with the make up.
Whatever you’re plans are for New Years I hope you have a wonderful and safe time. I wish you all a happy and healthy 2018 and thanks for following me along this year!
