I am supppperrrrr late to the party with this foundation. I love a lot of Too Faced products but until recently I have never been able to really try their foundations. Their lightest shade is just never light enough or it is too yellow. That’s why I was so excited when they released expanded shades of their Born This Way foundation.
Last summer Too Faced added 6 shades to the Born This Way foundation line, including the shade I use -Swan. Too Faced is also partnering with YouTuber Jackie Aina to bring even more shades to the line, especially for women of color. Which if you don’t already subscribe to her YouTube channel, you should because she’s amazing and hilarious.
The Born This Way foundation is a medium to full coverage foundation that promises to be undetectable. It’s oil free and contains coconut water to help keep the skin hydrated. While I do have combo skin and my t-zone will get oily throughout the day, I’ve heard so many wonderful things about this foundation that I still really wanted to try it out.
The lightest shade, Swan, is new and the one that is my best match. I love the packaging, its very classic and beautiful. The formula is not too thick or too runny. I used two pumps of foundation to achieve the level of coverage I wanted and I used my favorite Tarte Foundation brush to blend in the foundation.
Here is a before photo of my naked face. My cheeks and nose have a bit of natural redness to them and I had a few minor breakouts to cover.
Here is the foundation freshly applied. I have no concealer or powder on at this point.
This is after I applied concealer, set everything, and applied the rest of my makeup. .
I am honestly blown away by this foundation. The only other foundation I have tried that looks this natural is the Lancome Teint Idole which is my holy grail foundation. This foundation blended seamlessly into my skin. The finish isn’t too luminous for my combo skin. I still set everything with powder to help with oil. I do find the oil comes through a bit more towards the end of the day when I wear this foundation, but it’s not causing my makeup to breakup or run down my face.
If you haven’t given this a try I highly suggest you do!
