I was really intrigued by this primer because it is the first makeup product from Origins. I have used Origins skincare products in the past and love them so I had high hopes for the primer as well.
This primer is marketed as part of their Original Skin line which is all formulated with willowherb which promises to help revitalize skin and help boost natural radiance that has been dulled from environmental stressors.
The primer is packaged in an aerosol can it reminds me almost of a shaving cream can. To dispense the primer you have to shake the can and depress the top and out comes a primer that is foamy or mousse like in texture. It has a slight light nude tint to it and is instantly cooling. Now I’ve used cooling primers before but this one means business, it is ice cold on contact.
I dispense about a nickle to quarter size of product and dab it on my forehead, each cheek, and chin and start to smooth the primer into my skin. This primer is so cooling, which in the warm summer weather I welcome and it feels so refreshing.
The primer when applied to the skin doesn’t seem the most pore blurring but it does make the skin a little tacky. I will say this is one of the best primers I have used. It might even beat out my current favorite. Because of the tackiness left on the skin it seems to make the pigment in my concealer and foundation just stick to my skin and help create a medium to full coverage layer with very little effort. I will say even though it doesn’t claim to, it keeps my oil at bay. I’ve worn this under my Too Faced Born This Way foundation which normally by the end of the day looks dewy, with this, it looks just as matte and flawless as when I first apply it.
With so many makeup releases coming out all the time it’s hard to be innovative in the makeup industry but this is one of the coolest products I have seen in quite some time. I am so glad I took a chance on this because it might be a new holy grail.
Would you try this primer? Any other crazy products out there that I should try?
